Office Book only gives contributor's initials and address: 1 Brick Court. Kelly's Post Office London Directory, 1858, lists 1 Brick Court as the address of Andrew Richard Scoble, barrister.


Scoble was admitted at Lincoln's Inn, 1852; called to the bar, 1856. Q.C., 1876; advocate-general and member of Legislative Council of Bombay, 1870-1877; bencher, 1879. K.C.S.I. During 1850s published translation of various of Guizot's historical works, and of various writings of Lamartine, Mignet, and Mérimée; also translation of Mémoires of Philippe de Comines, prefaced by life of the historian. Edited Poetical Works of James Russell Lowell, 1853.
